Jean-Francois Bocle’s installation “everything thing must go” (2014) Features a sea of 97.000 blue polyethylene plastic bags, forming an abyss and a quasi-memorial to lives lost at sea during the transatlantic slave trade. The ubiquitous plastic bags, now synonymous with current aims to ban single-use plastic are air inflated to symbolise the princeless commodity that is life itself.
